Live Faith

Read James 2:17. Faith is alive! Is it alive in you? Have you ever thought of faith as a living thing? John Wesley, the father of Methodism, once said, “Faith worketh through love.” Faith cannot work if it is not alive. If there are no good works, then there is no faith. A true living faith will not exist without some kind of good works flowing from it. That’s just the way it is. The good works can take on many forms; however, they are good because they are from God: God inspired, God led, God empowered. Feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, housing the homeless, helping one in need, spending time with the lonely, seeking justice in the midst of injustice—these are but a few of the good works that are borne of faith. “So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead” (James 2:17). Your faith: dead or alive?
