Thoughts Are Seeds: For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Romans 8:6

The complexity of the human mind is truly miraculous. On average, the human brain only weighs about three pounds, yet it contains billions of neurons which control everything from our breathing reflex to philosophical reasoning.

And the way we think determines our direction, minute to minute, day to day, throughout the course of our lives. Our brains are always working; the wheels are always turning, even when we are asleep!

Is it any wonder that the Word of God is so intentional about teaching us the importance of our thinking?

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. – Proverbs 23:7

Sometimes we don’t realize the impact our thoughts have on every part of our lives. However, our predominant thoughts are the force behind the direction that our lives will take. Our thoughts determine our attitudes, our emotions, and—ultimately—our actions! Therefore, we must learn to take control of our thoughts.

Thoughts operate in the same way as seeds. You can often tell the type of seed people have planted by the look on their face and the words that they speak. There’s always a telltale, lemon-sucking expression that gives it away!

The Bible says, The joy of the Lord is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10). It’s also one of the first things the enemy tries to steal from us when we allow ourselves to be distracted by the junk around us. The great thing is, if we don’t like the fruit in our lives, we can pray for a crop failure and replant!

Shalom
