Our Faithful Promise Keeper

But the Lord is faithful; He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. – 2 Thessalonians 3:3

When I think of being faithful, I think of being devoted to God, completely believing Him, obeying Him, listening to Him, sticking with Him through thick and thin, and trusting Him. I have often found myself wondering, why does God require my faithfulness? He is already good, loving, perfect, just, and knows what is best for me. What does He have to hold Himself faithful to? The Lord must remain faithful to His promises. He must follow through, be a Man of His word, and have intention in the way He moves in our world. Throughout the Bible, we see many promises that the Lord makes. He will fight for us, deliver us, strengthen us, provide for us, save us, love us, heal us, and many more. All of these promises are part of His character, and He has no flaw in Him. He will indeed strengthen us and guard us from the evil one; all we need to do is trust what He says, keep our eyes on Him, and don’t look at the evil one.
