He Wants All of you
Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. – James 4:8
There’s a song with the line Get into the Word of God and get the Word of God to get in you. Drawing near to God seems like an ambiguous idea. How do you draw near to God, let alone cleanse your hands and purify your heart? Drawing near to God means to dwell, or be, with Him. Spend time with Him, during the good and the bad days. He gave Himself up for all of you, and that’s all He wants – you. Take the confusing, emotional, angry, addicting, and painful things to Him. As you draw near to Him, you will see how much He loves you and how much grace He has for you, cleansing your hands of all past, present, and future sin. Because of His love and kindness, He will begin changing our deceitful hearts to pure and repentant ones. His Word will become part of your nature, and your desires will line up with His. We aren’t perfect, and we will mess up, but that is why God gave Himself up for us to die on the cross
