but he said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.
So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weakness, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. – 2 Corinthians 12:9
Have you ever thought you shouldn’t have any weaknesses in your Christian life? Sometimes I get caught in the thought cycle that I shouldn’t have any if I’m a true follower because I should be residing in Christ’s strength alone. Alas, this is not correct. In 2 Corinthians, Paul talks about a thorn in his side that will never go away and is a messenger from Satan to harass him. Why is this thorn in Paul’s side? To keep him humble. To remind him that the Lord’s power is greater than his, and despite any weakness, Paul is always strong because he has the Lord’s power in him. These types of thorns are good, but can also hinder us in our daily walk. We need to surrender these thorns to the Lord daily. He knows we have them, and He knows they challenge us. Handing our weaknesses over to Christ makes us strong in Him.
