The Upward Call

I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3: 14

Sometimes in the waiting seasons, it can feel as though Christ isn’t teaching us anything and we aren’t growing. When I experience this, I feel as though I’m not pressing on toward the prize of the heavenly call. Sometimes, I ask myself when I’m about to make an important decision, will this affect my eternity? That can feel extreme, but Paul says it’s not. He says that we should always be striving towards the goal, or call to the prize of the Lord. What is rather remarkable about this is that we’ll never know absolutely everything about Jesus in this lifetime. For this, I’m glad. When I come to know everything about something I tend to become bored and want to move on to a new subject. Thankfully, we will always experience new things in this life, and we will always have the heavenly call to pursue Jesus. –
