Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God. – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NRSV)
Perhaps in your circle, you are the only one struggling with an issue or a major upheaval. You do not know who you can talk to because no one else gets it. But, there is one who understands exactly what you are going through, what you are feeling, thinking, and experiencing. He has come alongside you to comfort and lead you through this if you will let Him. You don’t see a purpose to this journey and you don’t see how God can “work it out for your good.” In time though, you will come across someone who is in the same situation, as lost or as alone as you were, weary from walking the road alone. Will you help them and open yourself up to them? Maybe you had to walk alone through your valley so they would not have to. God comforted you, and now you have the chance to comfort them. The door is open, but the decision is yours.
