In John 14:9, what is the meaning of the phrase
He who has seen me has seen the Father?
Jesus and his Father are one, but not like some are trying to tell you. They are one in heart, mind, purpose and spirit. They are separate, but working together in complete harmony and cooperation. Jesus in total subjection to his Father. Philip is asking Jesus to show them the Father and Jesus is saying, “if you see me, you are also seeing the Father, because we are in complete agreement, we have the same nature and the same spirit.
The verses before this, Philip is asking how they can know the way to heaven. We can be grateful that Philip asked this question because then we have Jesus’ answer on record. I am the way, the truth and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by me. There was no way to reach the Father, without having first accepted the Son.
