You let people ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; yet You have brought us to a spacious place. – Psalm 66:12
Prior to this verse, King David is proclaiming the amazing things the Lord has done, specifically about the deliverance and rescue out of slavery in Egypt. David also describes how the Lord has tested him and his people. But they remember the miraculous things in the midst of the tests and trials. They have been through both of these, and yet God has brought them to a spacious place. The original Hebrew for spacious place is revayah, meaning satisfaction or overflow. The Lord brought His people into a place of satisfaction, of overflow. They had all they needed and more, they were brought into a place of abundance, the Lord provided this for them. Remembering the Lord, His presence, and the miracles He has performed helps us remember He has great things for us, things that will glorify His name.
